European Vacation – Nice

After breakfast this morning, we headed for the beach.  Finally – after going past all those beautiful beaches in Greece and Italy, we were finally going to hang out on the beach.  :)

The water was beautiful!  It was absolutely clear and warm.  The only problem is that there is no sand until you are in over year head.  Neither Karen or Alvena could swim, so they never did make it out to the sand bottom.  They didn’t stay in the water very long either, but I was having fun in there.  There was lots of sand on the beach and right up to the water, but it was stones and rocks under the water.

We were almost the only girls on the beach who kept our tops on, which is probably why today was the first day in France when no one asked us out.  We sat in the sun and just enjoyed the late morning and early afternoon.

We headed back to our hotel around 2:30 pm to wash the salt off.

After we got cleaned up, we decided to go to one of the restaurants in our book Europe on $10 a day.  I have no idea what we ate or what the food was like, but I said we were there for 2 solid hours and there was always something going on.  Again – I have no idea what was going on though – LOL.

On the way out of the restaurant, we saw a couple who were obviously lost, so we gave them our map of Nice, since we were planning on leaving in the morning anyway.  We found out that they were from Montreal.

For today’s picture, I have one taken on the beach.

I hadn’t noticed it until now, but there is a Canadian flag on the building there.  We might have noticed it when we were there, but I didn’t mention that in my diary, so I have no idea if we saw it or not.

Today was Saturday, July 12, 1975.
